Finally! it took me long enough but here is the official album cover art for Hideous Divinity's debut album, Obeisance Rising

The band asked me to do them promotional material in which I accepted with honour . It went through quite bit of development during the creation of the final piece, they were very specific with what they wanted. Boy does it feel good to know that my creative output is making people happy, I hope the cover serves justice. It was an enjoyable learning experience, especially the collaborative process between the client and myself, a real taste of the real-life industry.

So I've recently been watching cutscenes from the Metal Gear Solid saga again, with the lastest installment, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The new title focuses on the story of Big Boss a.k.a Naked Snake and how he started an independed PMC called MSF whch eventually turns into Outer Heaven. The cutscenes are maily illustrated like a digital graphic novel, very arty and delivers the story in a very stylish way, the powerful ending made me shed a tear.
Hideo Kojima has done a brilliant job with creating this universe thats heavly based on our uncoverd reality. I like the way how each game's release is scatterd across the timeline as gaming technology improves - I think that the same princible can be applyed to any ideas or concepts in general, because one idea may seem like a good idea in one time, but in a complete different time that same idea may seem like the worst idea "It's the times that defines us. The biggest estalishment to face is - The Times "

These past years I grew away from video games, decided to get away from it for a while until I got the urge to come back, I found them time wasting and bloody expensive! back then I wanted to live in reality and still do. But recently my passion for games grew close again, I still and always wanted to be concept artist for games, I saw the potentional in designing the universe of games a long time ago and realized the positive effects it has on people . You can put more care into a game than say a movie considering the amount of attention to detail is requred.. With films you just sit and glimpse things that you might miss, with games it's an interactive experience with the universe, attention to detail, you have full control to embrace yourself in this digital world. Thats the beauty of designing for virtual experiencs, people tend to get easly hooked towards it. Also in game graphics are looking more like CGI, before the current gen you always had polygon restrictions, but now you design the concepts with more confidence than ever before because models have a high polygon count. I also believe that with the game engine it's a good medium for story telling and cinnenamitcs becuase games developing companies anr't run by Hollywood.

Alice wearing Japanese lolita. I didn't want to go down a modern gothic punk route like I did on my last Alice illustrations rather I took a more realistic approach by capturing the innocence of classic interpatations of alice but at the same time keeping it modern and trendy fashion-wise. The bunny is meant give that extra punch of cutenes and innocence, while mentainting a deeper myserious quaility with it's creepy eye. The colour choices for the dress are pretty damn faithful I would say, plus it stand outs as more iconic.

Graphic Novel?

I've began doing my personal one shot graphic novel Red Star Dementia few weeks ago, originally the idea formed around 2005 and since then I 've got no properly planned out structured script or anything like that, rather the main idea, some image ideas, and some sketches I done. My plan is I will make up events as I go along, but the main premise is still there. In a nutshell it's an angst confusing teenage self-discovery story about escapism and the underestimated power of the imagination . I've been looking at mangas like Blame! for inspiration art style wise, I think his style works perfectly with the story I have, it's got a dark moody silent atmosphere, very lonely and with huge eniviroments, some twisted characters, yet some fragility in a lot of areas. I guess you could say it's "gothic" and Tim Burtons in areas, which is fine, becuase there will be some comediac opera like moments here and there.

So I began doing sketching the first few pages, and then I will ink it up.

Working in the lab late at night, the lab being the office. Ordered mushroom pizza two hours ago at 11:23pm, still not arrived yet. Did Pizza-Pan forget to deliver order? Or abusing costumers commands? He was Italian. He wasn't a friend however, probably doesn't care. Perhaps has too much respect for himself and his life, in the end I'm just a late costumer with very little income. Spent most money on haircuts and clothing.

Basic Premise

A science fiction short set in a post-apocalyptic toxic spaghetti-western future, future mankind are waging war against out-of-control humanoid machines. Twitchy, a lone cyborg hunter with dreadlocks and laser pistol gets in a frenzy with a human resistance leader fighter, only to be defeated by a powerful gunshot blast. This is a short violent dark comedy of one to one, man vs machine, grit in the veins, duck and cover intensified action.

"Vicous from the North"

Just something I decided to do with these dog/felions type humanoids in a misty condition. I was going to do the other " something from South ,West and East" too but I scrapped those.

"Metamaphosis"
This was one for a project at the first year of college
The idea with this image is that a lower spatial dimension (zero) is morphing into higher spatial dimensions (eleven) The human stands as a symbol of consciousness that expriences the past, present and future all at once.

"Piccolo"
This a new piece I did this year as a fanart for Dragonball.

Blame! it one me

I just finnish reading volume one of the cyberpunk manga Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei. This is first manga I ever owned, and I must say it is pretty kick-ass. I already kind of knew what goes on through the manga while I scanned through some online scans while trying not to catch the plot, but addictive as it was it was very hard not too.
I'm glad I bought the physical release, and I already gotten used to reading the pages from back to front.I try to restric myself from reading infront of the monitor all the time since it can be damaging to the eyes, and also having a real copy in your hands which you can flick, bend, skew, carry, something which is actually printed powder of CMYK micro-dots onto thin sheets of blank wood makes it worth the money.

I know theres going to be some wicked things happening as the series goings on, but this volume was enjoyble to read through and inspiring to look at. It's pretty dark ,twisted and sexy, theres some gross moments and some quite mysterious moments. There not much dialog in this manga, instead theres is just artwork which helps bring yourself in this world and tag along on the jorney with Killy, making the world speak for itself.

One most of the striking thing you would notice is the enivironments, the perspective is trippy and spot on, the Megastructure has become a character itself. It's easy to tell Nihei has studied artihecture as it shows, and I'm really paying attention to the lines and used of perpective points since when it comes drawing perspective it is one of my strongest strengths. I find the whole artwork in Blame! simply beautiful, from the simpltic black strokes to the worked in detailed rendering, and the used of dark and light feeds my imagenation.

I find this book scary, not so much the horror elements but becuase the character designs in this book are Deja Vu to me. I've been drawing designs just like Nihei's two year back before I even seen any Blame!, it's like his work influenced me before I even saw them. Especially the cybrog characters with the mask like faces look excatly like a character I designed few years ago. That is creepy, but also very cool, perhaps thats why I love this manga so much. It's like something that could from my dreams. I guess my characters werent as original as I thought, but I still allow myself to get inspired by the artwork. The artstlye is one of my favourte styles, it reminded me of how much I used this style during my early teens when I couldn't use it well. Now this muse of black n white manga style narrative art has been a strong influencial motivator. The designs are sick! I also notice some Giger in there.
